Oh we are getting close… Trophy time is almost here!
As we’ve done in years past the family went (slightly) north to Lake Winni for several days during their school vacation. Surprise – a little blue boat followed us!
Blustery weather and so-so conditions reduced our fishing outings (and results) compared to recent years, but I’m happy [...]
Happy 2011 all!
While dreary outside, the receding snowdrifts and sparkling ocean signal that the season is almost upon us. Can’t wait…
We will be using both the Mako and Starcraft this season. The Mako, while older, really proved its worth with its huge live bait capacity late last season. It will also be the platform of [...]
We closed out the season on Wednesday evening. Heads held high!
In truth, there are still a few fish moving through, very close to the beach and legit surf casting targets if you get it right. Watch the terns – they are the pros at this game.
Will be posting a wrap-up soon.
Until then,
My Best,
Capt. Bob
hile the weather continues to challenge, the pictures below illustrate that fish are still here, and oh my are they hungry. (Hint, notice the client holding up fingers to indicate fish caught #? He could have been barefoot and sticking out his tongue by end of trip – we ran out of bait!)
Moon’s waxing, time’s [...]
We logged several trips in recent days, enjoying a respite from the storm/wind/swell recent past. Fall fishing is in full swing, although with a touch of reality.
After two evenings with multi-mulithookups and mega action, we barely scraped out a fish and a trip today. Reality happens…
We are likely to have another week or so of [...]
Another frustrating weekend of canceling charters due to high wind and swell. Thanks, Nicole…
My read is that this blow could well be the pattern changer that gets the fall migration going. With all the fish to the north, and bait inshore, it could be a fun stretch in front of us.
Hope to be back [...]
It had to happen. After a season of nearly universal good fishing, we got blanked. With a great group of hard working folks on a reward trip from work, we suffered through a morning of half hearted bass swirls, bluefish biteoffs, and more. Oh well…
Sandwiched around this bummer trip we’ve been fishing hard, and doing [...]
We certainly have had our fall weather adventures. This week’s version is the surge from still faraway Igor. Down boy…
The storm surge has kept us out of many of our favorite haunts, and made it downright scary after dark. Plan B has resulted in some good action however, including first ever stripers for a young [...]
We are seeing the fall bite, in full force the last several days. We’ve been using live mackerel, and mixing in eels after dark. Both have been producing well, inlcuding a momentary triple hookup and it’s ensuing “Over” “Under” dancin’ in the dark on Friday!
Bluefish have been absent the last few days, but with water [...]
Windbag Earl stirred things up along the coast; lots of weeds to clear out now that the swell has moderated. No danger of hooking a Quebec surfer on a long cast, at least this week…
Bluefish are still with us, and we’ll be reconnecting with stripers as soon as conditions permit. Last check we had spike [...]
